What is Involved in Completing CNA Training in Washington?

A CNA career holds many interesting challenges and is often very rewarding. To practice as a certified nurse aide (CNA) in Washington state, you must first attend a CNA training program approved by the Washington State Department of Social & Health Services.

Step 1:

Find and enroll in an approved program in your state:
 
Approved training programs must include 35 hours of classroom training and 50 hours of hands-on training, along with seven hours of education on AIDS.

Each school will have their own prerequisites, but most schools require students to be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Schools for CNA training in Washington also require you to have a clean criminal record and undergo a complete physical health exam. Step 2:  

Complete your CNA training program.

During your hands-on training, you will be required to practice the skills you learned in the classroom in a professional setting, such as a hospital or long-term care center. Basic phlebotomy and grooming and hygiene assistance skills are also usually part of your clinical training.

Step 1:

Register to take the Washington CNA certification examination. You will need to pay the $107 fee prior to taking the exam.

Step 2:
