What is Involved in Completing CNA Training in Wyoming?

The state of Wyoming has experienced its share of nurse aide shortages, just as the rest of the nation has.  The career of the certified nurse aide is sometimes short lived because many nurse aides who receive their CNA certification in Wyoming continue their education and become registered nurses or licensed practical nurses.  However, the need for these skilled professionals is only going to increase as the elderly population does.

Enrollment and Completion of CNA Classes in Wyoming

Step 1:

Approved training programs must consist of at least 75 instruction hours, which are separated into classroom learning and hands-on training in an approved care facility.

Students wishing to enroll in CNA training in Wyoming must undergo a complete physical exam, as well as pass a criminal background check.  totaling 16 hours.

Step 2:

Complete your CNA training.

During your training program, you will learn a number of basic nursing skills, such as how to care for residents on a daily basis. CPR certification is also a mandatory part of CNA training in Wyoming.

You will spend 16 hours of your training program applying the skills you learned in the classroom, by participating in hands-on training. During this portion of the training, you will be expected to show efficiency in interacting with your supervisors, caring for the patients, providing meals and fluids, changing bedding, maintaining an illness free environment, and encouraging resident independence.

CNA Testing Procedures and Applying for CNA Certification in Wyoming

Step 1:

Register to take the CNA certification exam through Pearson Vue. This will cost you$98 for the test, in addition to a $60 for application fee.

Step 2:

Prepare for the CNA certification exam by reviewing what you learned during your training and taking practice exams.

Step 3:

Pass the CNA certification exam in Wyoming.

This exam consists of a written multiple-choice portion, as well as a skills assessment portion. During the skills assessment portion, you will need to correctly complete five basic nurse aide skills.

If you are successful on both tests, your certification will be mailed to you, and you can apply to be listed on the Wyoming Nurse Aide Registry.

Step 4:
