CNA Testing Procedures and Applying for CNA Certification in Vermont

Step 1:

Apply to take the CNA certification exam in Vermont, which is administered by D&S Diversified Technologies. You can apply to take the test either by phone, mail, or Internet. There are fees associated with registering, and these will need to be sent in with your application to receive a test date.

Step 2:

The day of the test will come sooner than you think, so make sure to stay fresh on the materials you leaned in your CNA training. To test your knowledge, you should also take several practice tests before your exam.

Step 3:

Pass the CNA certification exam. On the day of the exam, arrive at the testing site early, so you will have plenty of time to check in. You should also be prepared to show a photo ID at this time as well.

You will be given 90 minutes to complete the first part of the test which is made up of 72 multiple-choice questions. You must score at least an 80% on this section of the test to pass it.

The second part of the test requires you to demonstrate how well you can perform the tasks you learned during your training. During this portion of the exam, an evaluator will choose five tasks for you to perform. You will have 45 minutes to complete this portion of the exam, and you must perform each skill with at least an 80% accuracy to pass.

If you pass both sections of the exam, you can then apply with the Vermont Board of Nursing and become listed as certified on the Licensed Nurse Aide Registry.

Step 4:

Create your resume, which should include your training, skills, certification, and experience. You can then look for CNA jobs.
