Enrollment and Completion of CNA Classes in Rhode Island
Step 1:
Find and enroll in an approved program in your state:
Find a CNA Training Program
It is essential that the program you choose be accredited by the state, or you may not qualify to sit for the state licensing exam. In preparation for the state exam, you will need to attend CNA classes in Rhode Island that contain a minimum of 100 hours, which are split between time spent in a classroom setting and a clinical one,
To enroll in a CNA training program, you will have to abide by federal law and undergo a criminal background check, as well as a complete physical before you can attend any medical program. Most programs require you to be at least 18 years old, but certain programs may make exceptions based on individual circumstances. You will also usually be required to hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Step 2:
Complete your CNA training.
Your classroom training will be focused on teaching your charges. This may include such things as controlling infection, handling the day to day grooming needs of incapacitated patients, and how to maintain patient charts and paperwork.
Skills such as medical terminology, phlebotomy training, and emergency situations will also be covered, so that you will be prepared not only for the CNA certification exam, but ready to handle the tasks associated with the job.
Classroom training will be combined with hands-on training in a clinical setting. During this portion of your training, you will be expected to become adept at the skills that you learned about in the classroom. CPR certification classes are also usually required as well.

Step 4:

During the skill demonstration portion of the exam, you will have to successfully perform five nurse assistant skills, which you learned during training. The skills you must perform will be randomly chosen by your nurse assistant evaluator, but will almost always include proper hand washing.
The written portion of the exam consists of at least 50 multiple choice questions.
If you pass both portions of the exam, you can apply to get your Certification of Registration as a Nursing Assistant through the registry. With all the necessary requirements, you will be listed on the Rhode Island Nurse Assistant Registry.
