What is Involved in Completing a CNA Program in Montana?

Getting your CNA certification in Montana allows you to work in a position that foretells of promising growth, as well as the reward of doing something to better someone’s life.

There are a number of nurse aide training programs located in hospitals, health care establishments, nursing facilities, and educational facilities throughout the state. You must complete one of these accredited and approved programs and pass the certification exam in order to be listed on the Montana Nurse Aide Registry.

Enrollment and Completion of CNA Classes in Montana

Step 1: Find a CNA Training Program

In order to enroll in a certification program in Montana, you need to be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. You will also be required to pass a background check. Additionally, students need to undergo a full physical to show they are healthy, and a two-part tuberculosis test is typically a part of this checkup.

Step 2:

Complete your CNA training.

CNA training programs in Montana are governed by state and federal regulations. Within this state, these programs have to include no less than 75 teaching hours, which are broken down into 50 hours of instructional classroom learning and 25 hours of hands-on learning in a clinical environment. During the hands on learning portion, you will be working under the supervision of a registered nurse which has been licensed and certified to give instruction in the state of Montana.

        CNA Testing Procedures and Applying for CNA Certification in Montana

        Step 1:

        After you’ve successfully completed your training, you must be deemed eligible to take the certification exam.  An evaluation, which is also known as the  Montana Nurse Aide Skills Competency Check List, is mandatory and you must meet all required elements on this list before you can take the exam.

        Step 2:

        Prepare for the Montana CNA certification exam. You can do this by reviewing what you’ve learned in your CNA training program and taking practice tests.

        Step 3:

        Take the Montana CNA certification exam. Make sure to show up a bit early on testing day to allow ample time for you to go through the check-in process.

        During the first part of the examination, you will be required to complete tasks that you learned in your clinical training. If you pass this portion, you will go on to take the multiple-choice and reading comprehension sections of the licensing exam.

        Step 4:

        Once you pass your CNA certification exam, you can create a resume and look for a job in this field.

        CNA Salary in Montana is around $21,700 a year at average. According to the Montana Department of Labor, there is projected to be a 22% increase for this position through 2016 statewide
