What is Involved in Completing CNA Training in Mississippi?

Becoming a certified nurse assistant in Mississippi is an exciting challenge that offers competitive salaries and growth. This state has been affected by the nation wide shortage of nurse faculty because of the elderly population’s rapid and continuous increase.

To become a CNA in Mississippi, you must first complete CNA training approved by the state’s Department of Health. You are also required to pass a certification exam. These requirements must be met before a nurse is recognized on the Mississippi Nurse Aide Registry.

Enrollment and Completion of CNA Classes in Mississippi

Step 1:

Find an approved program in your state, and make sure you meet all eligibility criteria.
Find a CNA Training Program

Before being admitted to a training program, there are a few prerequisites that you should be aware of.

You need to be at least 18 years old and have a GED or high school diploma. Upon admittance, you will also need to pass a criminal background check and undergo a complete health screening, which includes a two part TB screening.

Step 2:

Choose a CNA training program.

Your CNA training class should have no less than 75 hours of learning in the classroom. It should also feature at least 16 hours of training in a medical center.

Step 3:

Complete your CNA training.

Some of your training will be spent in the classroom, learning about such things as medical terminology and the special needs of your patients. A portion of your training will also be hands-on, with you interacting with patients and learning skills such as how to use basic medical equipment and how to change beds.

        CNA Testing Procedures and Applying for CNA Certification in Mississipi

        Step 1:

        Apply to take the CNA certification exam.
